Pothohar: Historic and Sacred Spaces
Pothohar: Historic and Sacred Spaces
This is the fourth volume in the History, Culture, and Heritage of Pothohar Series. Drawing on extensive ethnographic research, Pothohar: Historic and Sacred Spaces explores how people interact with havelis, temples, tombs, and shrines in everyday life. Through conversations, observations, and local narratives, the book captures Pothohar as a lived cultural landscape, highlighting both its rich diversity and the urgent need to preserve its fragile heritage.

Sarang: History of Gakkhars
Dr. Saheeb A. Kayani’s book significantly contributes to the scholarly examination of the history of Gakkhars through its compilation of 20 insightful essays. Each essay provides a thorough exploration of a particular dimension of the history of Gakkhars. His work is notable not only for the depth of its content but also for the diverse range of historical sources he has carefully collected, analyzed, and used. This approach enables a more nuanced understanding of the Gakkhars’ past and their connection with the Pothohar region. This book will serve as an invaluable resource for scholars, providing a strong foundation for further research into the topics discussed. Many of the themes explored in this work have either been ignored in past studies or have received minimal attention from researchers, making the book particularly noteworthy.

Mystics, Mosques and Masons of Pothohar
Mystics, Mosques and Masons of Pothohar
Many aspects of Pothohar’s culture, including Sufism and heritage, have not been discussed in detail. In this book, I have tried to enlighten the reader about the lesser-known shrines and saints that did not receive scholarly attention. This book introduces the reader to the history of Sufi saints of specific villages and towns who spread their respective silsila through their teachings. They built mosques from where they spread their teachings. They employed celebrated masons to construct the mosques, which reflects the mastery of the Pothohari masons over stone and woodwork.

Memories, Mystics and Monuments of Pothohar
Memories, Mystics and Monuments of Pothohar
Not much is written on the heritage of the Pothohar region in Punjab. Keeping this in mind, I travelled extensively in this region to recollect additional legacy of history to authenticate the hidden treasures of Pothohar. This region abounds in the heritage sites which I have been documenting since 2000. While documenting the cultural heritage of Pothohar, an idea struck my mind that there should be a series of books on the various aspects of the heritage, culture, religion and history of this region. I decided to venture out in search of a new literary horizon to investigate and compose a series of books on the history, culture, and heritage of Pothohar. The current book is the first in the series of ten books that I plan to write on the heritage of this region. I would like to inform my readers that before the publishing of this book, I have already written one book on Pothohar heritage titled “Reflections on the Pothohar Heritage.”
