Angelic Appeals: Children’s Letters of Love and Inspiration to Quaid-e-Azam, 1939 to 1948
Preface:
All praise, is to Allah (Subhanahu Ta’ala), the most benevolent, and ever merciful. May Allah’s everlasting blessings and peace be upon his last Prophet Sayyidana Muhammad (Shalala ’aliyyah wa Alahi wa Sallim) who is the distributor of knowledge among the humanity.
The accomplishments of the All India Muslim League (AIML) under the dynamic leadership of the Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah are quite impressive. The renowned historian Z. H. Zaidi has very rightly observed that “if one remember the weak, disorganized League of 1935, with its small membership and extremely limited appeal, one is filled with wonder at the revolution in Muslim politics which the party had brought about in a decade”. The Quaid-i-Azam successfully transformed the AIML ‘into a well-knit disciplined organization of the Indian Muslims’ and despite all odds, managed to inspire and lead the Muslim masses to their cherished goal, Pakistan.
The younger generation of the Muslim India was also highly impressed by the Quaid’s personality and the appeal made by him to the Muslim society was equally well received by them. The present compilation is a testimony to the scale of love, affection and motivation present in their hearts regarding their great leader. The Quaid-i-Azam himself once admitted that “it is gratifying indeed that Young Muslim India are showing their splendid spirit and I appreciate very much their support and encouragement they are giving me and to the cause for which we are fighting”.
The copies of these letters related with the children, were lying with me for the last 15th years as I had collected them during my research work carried out for Ph.D History from the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. I am grateful to Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javeid, Managing Director, National Book Foundation, Islamabad for considering them for publication.
