What Is to Be Done?
Syed Sardar Ali
The civilization of Islam faces existential threat by modern industrial West. Despite many centuries of reform efforts, Muslim societies remain in disarray. This treatise analyses this dilemma in the light of evolution of human societies, rise of the West, and the catch up efforts made by five societies over the last three hundred years. While the analysis is in the context of civilization of Islam and Pakistan, the lessons drawn are universal, applicable to all traditional societies facing the challenges of modernity.
